This is off the topic for normal blog posts, but I was taken with this story. The creationists have raised $30 million to build a monument to their own refusal to accept modern science.
I imagine Sandra Gade is probably already planning her trip!

I hope it's better than Kent Hovind's backyard theme park.

Good for them, we need more monuments to stupidity.
I certainly do wish they would observe the Biblical injunction about "Thou shalt not lie" and "Thou shalt not bear false witness." There is no way to say that objective science will support the Genesis account as literal fact without being a shameless barefaced liar. Can't imagine THAT makes God very happy ...
And while they are quite vocal on their opinions of the godless heathen atheists who support the Theory of Evolution, why are they so mum on the millions upon millions of fellow Christians who embrace the *message* of Genesis but not the details, seeing it as true but not factual? Come on, tell us about them. Are THEY in league with Satan? Are they doomed to Hell for their beliefs, despite accepting Jesus as their savior? Be honest. Isn't it kind of embarassing to be undercut by your fellow Christians that way? You've set up this simple-minded dichotomy of God-fearing faithful believe the Bible vs. heathen atheists believe evolution, and yet there are an AWFUL lot of folks who are neither. Tell us what you think about THEM.
From a theological perspective, isn't the story of Adam and Eve really the story of each of our lives? We come into this world pure and innocent, but at some point in life, we turn from God and sin. Thus, we are in need of divine redemption. Doesn't that make a LOT more sense than believing we require redemption because Eve ate the forbidden fruit? What sort of a loving God saddles us with a debt of guilt because of something a far-distant ancestor did? That makes no sense!
