10 year academic staff let go

I caught wind of a rumor today that there are 2 academic staff people who have been teaching here in a science department that are not having their contracts renewed. It sounded as though they did not want to go.

Has anyone heard about this?

So now we're rumormongering about personnel issues? That's a real high point in educational discourse. What's next? Who's boinking the department secretary????

I bet it's Chancellor Wells...he's such a stud.

I posted this because there is a real issue on campus about the role of academic staff. They are paid less, have almost no job security, and are often mistreated by their department.

If that has happened recently on campus, I would like to know about it.

Sorry Winneblogo

you are correct that academic staff are treated poorly, but you forget that an academic norm is that a member of one department should not get involved in the personnel decisions of another department (unless one os following a proceedure duly outlined in the faculty handbook)
