Colleges Chase as Cheats Shift to Higher Tech - New York Times

The New York Times (registration required) reports on high-tech cheating by college students. Wireless internet connections and ipods give new facets to students trying to immorally get ahead.

It is another NYTimes story without any quantitative data, but does give some interesting anecdotes!

I read this story and thought what was most interesting was the absolute lack of responsibility taken by some students for their cheating. One girl, as I recall, said something like, "well, it's all the pressure to do well that makes some students cheat." I think that widespread cheating is more a statement on the degredation of a lot of morals, and not just the cheating act itself. It's disturbing that students simply try to justify the act, like it's something society makes them do. Cheating is wrong and students should acknowledge it's wrong. Grades are not the most important thing a student gains from his or her education, it is the wider values on learning and life that are important. It's sad that this has been lost.
