Female academics and tenure

Salon.com has a small posting about how many women have tenure at Yale. The alumni magazine reports that in arts and sciences there are 310 men with tenure and only 71 women.

I wonder if we have the same disparities here?

Hm. I didn't think *anybody* got tenure at Yale ...

Seriously, places like that are notorious for only tenuring the most stupendous ultra-colossal superstars who enjoy swimming with the sharks.

I couldn't find the article on the link. The numbers offered are kind of meaningless if we don't know things like numbers of applicants, numbers of hires, numbers of assistant profs up for tenure, etc. Perhaps men out-number women 10-to-1 at any of those stages, too?
