Cute picture over at a local site

ABV News has a cute picture of a kid holding a sign asking for affordable tuition. I don't know the context, but I liked the shot.

The picture is of an Appleton 6th grade student named Forest holding a sign stating, "Keep Tuition Affordable! I want to go to College!"

Forest joined citizens from around the state in Oshkosh for the recent Rally for Real Democracy. The rally took place outside of the WI Democratic Party Convention on June 11.

The sign Forest held was in response to the following:

By 2007, after 4 years of Jim Doyle as Governor, tuition in the UW system will have increased by over 55% (a conservative estimate). In addition, funding for the UW system continues to decrease, most notably Doyle’s $250 MILLION cut in 2003.

Results of this abuse include: decreased quality and accessibility of education, fewer minorities and low income individuals able to afford school, and wealth increasingly replaces merit as the determinative factor in the make-up of the student body.

Forest's dad is in the background. They are just outside of the Park plaza Convention Center on Main St.
